A celebration of Inter Faith Week in Cheltenham
-
Join the free celebrations from 8 to 15 November
Visitors are invited to visit Cheltenham’s faith and belief communities as they open their doors as part of national Inter Faith Week from Sunday 8 to Sunday 15 November.
Anyone who would like to learn more about and celebrate the diversity of faith and belief in Cheltenham is welcome at any of the open events and tickets are free.
This year’s Inter Faith Week theme is ‘Lighting the way for a shared future’ and the week will be celebrated at a final event on the evening of Monday 16 November at Cheltenham Hindu Centre by people of all faiths and beliefs coming together. A free vegetarian and vegan meal will be shared and the organisers would love to hear from anyone who would like to share music, a dance or a piece of poetry from their faith tradition.

These events are being delivered in partnership with Cheltenham Inter Faith and Cheltenham Borough Council.
Councillor Jamie Jamieson, cabinet member for safety & communities said: “Cheltenham Inter Faith Week is a free, immersive and inclusive week of events for people of any background to celebrate and get involved in their community.
“All faiths share many common values, including compassion, treating others as we would like to be treated ourselves, and respecting each other's views. Inter Faith Week gives us a wonderful opportunity to learn more about each other.”
Revd Kevin Devaney, Chair of Cheltenham Inter Faith said: “Through Inter Faith Week this year we are looking forward to making connections between people of different faiths or no faith and standing together for kindness and neighbourliness.
“I hope lots of people take the opportunity to go and visit the spiritual homes of our local faith groups and to learn more about them, ask questions and enjoy themselves.
“This year we are also pleased to promote the Inter Faith Panel discussion in Gloucester on Wednesday 11 November exploring what light means in different faith traditions.”
