Apply for housing

With just one application you will be able to apply for social rented homes in any district of Gloucestershire and West Oxfordshire.

Some of our homes are also available exclusively for residents over 60.

HomeseekerPlus

Homeseeker Plus is a choice based letting scheme which allows anyone who qualifies for our housing register to apply for social rented and low cost private rented properties anywhere in the district and/or the other districts under the scheme.

Applicants who qualify are then banded according to their individual needs, in line with the HomeseekerPlus policy and can register an interest, known as ‘bidding’, for the properties suited to their circumstances.

Registering for HomeseekerPlus

To register for the scheme you will need to complete an application form, please remember the following:

  • It takes about 30 minutes to register
  • You will be asked to provide further information after you have submitted your application (to verify who you are, your circumstances and your needs)
  • Your registration form will be acknowledged within 10 working days
  • Registering for this scheme does not guarantee that you will be accepted onto HomeseekerPlus or that you will be offered a property
  • All available social housing in Gloucestershire and West Oxfordshire is let through HomeseekerPlus

 FAQs

How are properties allocated?

Properties advertised on Homeseeker Plus by CBC Housing Services are allocated in line with Homeseeker Plus Policy.

Usually, the applicant at the top of the bidding shortlist will be offered a property.  However, in some circumstances there will be additional allocation criteria detailed on the advert description. For example, some adverts will specify that there is a Local Lettings Plan in place or others may advise that applicants must have a proven medical need for disabled adaptations that are in a property.

If an applicant fails to meet the additional allocation criteria, we will make a decision not to offer. In these circumstances the applicant will be notified that they have been bypassed and the reason why an offer has not been made.

What if I'm not happy with an allocation decision?

If you are not happy with an allocation decision and believe CBC has failed to take into account all available relevant information and circumstances, you can appeal the decision by making a formal complaint.

The complaint will be dealt with in line with CBC Complaints and Compliments policy.  Vacant properties will not be held empty whilst the complaint is being responded to.
