Renewal of the existing PSPO
The Town Centre East car park is a 354-space car park close to Cheltenham town centre which can be used by local businesses, residents, and visitors. The car park is next to a large local business and surrounded by a number of residential properties. Ongoing anti-social behaviour in the area is affecting the local community, visitors, and businesses. The aim of the public space protection order (PSPO), alongside other measures, is to reduce the amount of anti-social behaviour in the car park.
The proposed order will renew the existing PSPO which covers Town Centre East car park. The order will:
- Ban the use of bicycles, scooters, skateboards, hoverboards and rollerblades in the car park
- Ban the smoking of tobacco and other products within the car park
- Ensure the enforcement of the street drinking PSPO
- Ban the improper use of the area for any purpose other than to park a motor vehicle, motorbike or moped
The order is proposed to be in effect for three years and will be reviewed after a six-month period. At that time a decision will be made whether to extend the period of the order.
