Have a go at something different for the New Year with free fitness classes at leisure@cheltenham. People of abilities are invited to come along to the centre on Tommy Taylor's Lane this weekend for a free class.
Local residents can try their hand at Zumba, the dance sensation that is sweeping the UK . This session alone can burn up to 500 to 1000 calories, with a mixture of salsa, mambo, merengue and reggatton.
As well as Zumba there's a whole variety of free classes to take part in, including circuits, spin, body pump, body combat and deep aqua aerobics.
Stephen Petherick, leisure@ commercial manager, said: "Zumba classes have been a huge hit at leisure@. It's a lot of fun whilst being a brilliant cardiovascular workout. But if that's not for you there are plenty of other classes to enjoy. It's an ideal opportunity for people to get a taste of something new and burn off those extra calories gained over Christmas."
Councillor Andrew McKinlay, cabinet member for sport and culture, added: "These free taster sessions are a great opportunity for people to experience the range of fitness classes available. The team at leisure@ are always keen to offer the latest exercise trends and there's no doubt they've done this with Zumba added to the timetable."
All classes are on a first come first serve basis; please collect a ticket at customer services. From today, members can pre-book at customer services or over the phone on 01242 528764.
