The by-election will take place on Thursday 12 October and three polling stations will be open from 7am until 10pm.

Two polling stations will be at Prestbury Hall, Bouncers Lane, and one at St Nicolas Church, Swindon Lane. People living in the Prestbury ward who are eligible are encouraged to go along to vote.

Nominations close at 4pm on Friday 15 September. Tuesday 26 September is the deadline to register to vote. Residents can register to vote online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. Residents can also check whether they’re registered to vote by calling 01242 264132.

Voter ID will be needed to vote in the by-election. Find out more about voter ID on our webpages and how to apply for free voter ID if you don’t already have an accepted form of  ID. Voters who do not produce valid photo identification or a Voter Authority Certificate, will not be allowed to vote on the day.  If you need to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate applications must be received by 5pm on Wednesday 4 October.

Wednesday 27 September at 5pm is the latest time for receipt of new postal and postal proxy applications or changes (including cancellation) to existing postal, postal proxy or proxy appointments.

Any new proxy vote applications need to be received by 5pm on Wednesday 4 October.
