Don’t miss your right to vote, register by 14 April

The notice of election was published on Monday 28 March marking the start of the election period.

Cheltenham residents wishing to vote in the borough and parish elections, who are not yet registered, need to register to vote online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. Residents can check whether they’re registered to vote by calling 01242 262626.

If you haven’t registered by Thursday 14 April, you won’t be able to vote. Registering is easy to do and only takes a few minutes online (you will need your National Insurance number when registering).

Anyone wishing to have a postal vote, postal proxy or to make changes to an existing postal vote for the elections on Thursday 5 May must return their application form by 5pm on 19 April.

Residents wishing to apply for a proxy vote (except for emergency proxies) should return their application form by 5pm on Tuesday 26 April.  A proxy vote is having someone vote on your behalf.

Canvassers are calling at Cheltenham households with invitations to register (ITR’s). We send Invitation to Register forms (ITRs) to people who are not on the electoral register. This is when a new person (or people) is included on a Household Enquiry Form (HEF). To vote, individuals must be registered.
