Child decorating a Christmas tree

This year, Cheltenham Borough Council with partners is encouraging people to put up their Christmas decorations early and join Father Christmas online for a Christmas countdown on 26 November.

Cllr Flo Clucas member for healthy lifestyles explained: “This year has been very different, and to help bring a bit of sparkle and happiness into our lives, Father Christmas thought that he’d invite everyone to a special Cheltenham online event to help everyone share a magical moment.

“Whether people want to place a simple tea light in their window, or decorate the whole of their home, we’d like to encourage everyone to join in and spread some Christmas cheer.”

We're asking peopl to share their pictures on Facebook or Twitter, using the hashtag #CheltChristmasMagic.

Cheltenham’s mayor, Cllr Roger Whyborn, will be picking his favourite two decorated houses in the borough, and his favourite street from the ‘CheltChristmasMagic’ hashtag.

Cheltenham Business Improvement District (BID) has kindly donated two £50 Cheltenham Gift Cards for the two best decorated houses.

Cheltenham’s mayor, Cllr Roger Whyborn, says: “We may not be able to do all the things we usually do to celebrate Christmas this year, but we can still make our homes and streets bright and cheerful for everyone to enjoy. I heartily encourage everyone to get involved and I’m very much looking forward to seeing all the entries.”
