For the elderly, self-isolating, key workers or those adhering to the Government guidance and staying at home, and in need of help, support is now available through the Gloucestershire Community Help Hub.

The Cheltenham Trust has launched a food hub providing basic food supplies and meals which are delivered direct to the door by the trust. The service is available via the Gloucestershire Community Help Hub – follow the link www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/helphub and click on the ‘I need help’ tab or call 01452 583519.

The first food boxes were delivered yesterday (Thursday 26 March) to almost 30 residents across Cheltenham.

Laurie Bell, chief executive of The Cheltenham Trust, said: “We are so proud to be supporting our communities, as part of the community help hub, preparing, cooking and delivering meals and basic supplies across Cheltenham.

“Now is the time to support each other, and if you are elderly, self-isolating, key workers or in need of help to source readymade meals or food supplies, please access support through the hub.”

Cllr Flo Clucas, cabinet member for healthy lifestyles, says: “We’re working with our colleagues, partners and residents who are all stepping up to help support our vulnerable communities.

“We’re absolutely delighted with the response to the trust’s request for boxes for their food parcels. The support from local businesses and individuals has been overwhelming and we would like to say thank you to everyone for their support.”

Cllr Mark Hawthorne, Leader of Gloucestershire County Council, said: “It’s great to see the efforts that Cheltenham Borough Council are putting in place to protect vulnerable residents. If you are anywhere in Gloucestershire and want to volunteer, or if you need help, please go to www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/helphub or telephone 01452 583519.”

Gloucestershire’s community help hub is a collaboration between all local councils, police and health services, and has been set up to provide support to cope with the changes to  lifestyles necessary to delay the spread of Covid-19.
