An appointment for the role of chief executive and head of paid service will be recommended to full council on Monday 14 October.
An appointments sub-committee, comprising five members together with the leader of the council as a non-voting member, was established to progress the recruitment and appointment, subject to council approval, to the post of chief executive.
Councillor Rowena Hay, chair of appointments and remuneration committee said: ‘’We had an outstanding field of candidates and are now following due process by referring our chosen candidate to full council. We are confident that the candidate will provide excellent leadership for Cheltenham Borough Council.’’
The recommended appointment follows the decision of former chief executive and head of paid service, Pat Pratley to retire after 13 years’ service. Pat has been at the head of the organisation since March 2016 and has been in local government since 1980.
Subject to full council agreement, the new chief executive will be formally announced following the meeting.
