Cheltenham’s very own lottery goes live in the autumn with a top prize of £25,000 up for grabs.
Local groups encouraged to sign up to benefit from a share of the cash at a good causes launch event which takes place on 11 September, 6pm at the Municipal Offices.
The first tickets for the lottery go on sale on 8 October, with the first draw taking place on 9 November. Tickets will cost £1 and each ticket will have a 1 in 50 chance to win a prize. Tickets will be available to buy online at www.cheltenhamlottery.co.uk
60% of all the ticket sales of the Cheltenham Lottery will be allocated to local good causes, with 50% being allocated to groups that sign-up to take part in the lottery and 10% allocated to the No Child Left Behind year of action on child poverty.
Local groups can directly benefit from the lottery and are encouraged to find out more at the good causes launch event, including how to sign up and be a part of the exciting plans.
Councillor Flo Clucas said: ‘’Local lotteries are brilliant ways of raising funds for good causes and are becoming very popular. Cheltenham’s own lottery will offer direct benefits to the community and in turn, support groups with their fundraising challenges. Players can be assured that proceeds will stay in the borough and go directly to their chosen cause.’’
Jonathon Davies, business manager from Gardner’s Lane and Oakwood Federation is looking forward to the lottery going live, he said: ‘’We are delighted to support the launch of the Cheltenham Lottery as it will help to plug funding gaps experienced by many local organisations.’’
