We have two opportunities for apprentices to join our award winning council. Be quick - the closing date is 1 August!

One opportunity would suit anyone with a true love for writing, creativity, public relations and social media, where an apprenticeship in PR and communications may be just the thing. The successful applicant will be welcomed into the fast-paced communications team and will have hands-on involvement in high level campaigns and engaging content creation, including photography and video.

The other is a level 4 apprenticeship in the revenues and benefits team. The apprentice will gain valuable experience in this high profile customer-facing team, supporting the administration of housing benefit and council tax support together with the collection of council tax and business rates. They will follow a training programme to learn how to handle customer enquiries, update customer records, use multiple software packages and at the same time, gain extensive knowledge about how the council operates. 

Councillor Alex Hegenbarth, cabinet member for corporate services said: “We’re really excited to offer two new apprenticeships within the council. They offer an ideal opportunity for young people across the county who are looking to take their first steps on the career ladder.

“By giving apprentices the opportunity to earn whilst they learn, we are confident that they will go on to have successful careers and benefit from the apprenticeships that we are offering.”

Apprenticeships within the council offer high quality pathways to successful careers, providing excellent opportunities to learn new skills and develop a career. Each paid role comes with £7,000 worth of training and development.

The apprentices will all be starting at the same time and the aim is for them to support each other during their training and shape the strategic apprenticeship approach that will see more opportunities offered each year.

The two level 4 apprenticeships are now open for applications at www.cheltenham.gov.uk/jobs and all those interested must be quick! The closing date for applications is 5pm on Thursday 1 August 2019.
