Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) which require a license will now be part of a streamlined online system, which is part of the council’s move to digital services.

New online application forms will be created for new HMO licences and existing licence renewal applications.  The online service is expected to go live on 15 July 2019.

The application forms will contain the necessary questions, a facility for applicants to upload all of the required supporting documentation and linkage to the payment system for application fees to be paid by credit or debit card.

Cllr Andrew McKinlay, cabinet member for development and safety, says:  ‘’By cutting out paper and postage, and allowing applicants to access, complete, pay and submit applications 24/7, the new forms will improve the application experience for applicants.

“This move to digital represents the latest development made by Cheltenham Borough Council to improve the application experiences of our licensing customers.’’
