All areas are now safe for collections and crews are following the revised Christmas schedule.
All crews were out on the streets today (Friday) working hard to bring the waste collection schedule back to normal.
Continuing challenging conditions and resourcing issues have meant that a small percentage of collections were missed today. We will therefore be cancelling garden waste collections that were due to take place tomorrow (Saturday) so that collections missed on Friday can be carried out.
We are asking affected residents whose waste collection was scheduled for Friday 29 to leave their containers out and we will collect as soon as possible.
Please check the Christmas recycling schedule for scheduled collections.
Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 December missed collections
For residents who had their revised collections missed on Wednesday and Thursday this week (whose normal collections would have fallen on Christmas Day or Boxing Day), we’re sorry that we are unable to offer catch up collections.
We ask those of you experiencing missed collections to take in your bins, boxes and sacks and present them as per the revised Christmas collections schedule.
Crews are already catching up after the Christmas break and working for the next three Saturdays. We have taken the decision not to offer catch up collections so that normal services can be resumed as quickly as possible.
All residents
If, while you are waiting for your next collection, you accumulate more waste than you can fit in your wheelie bin, please put the extra waste in a tied black bag and present it beside your wheelie bin for collection.*
For extra recycling, use a sturdy box - not made of cardboard as this will get sodden in damp weather – and put it alongside your normal recycling box. Extra food waste can be presented using your smaller kitchen caddy if your larger one is full. Cardboard should be folded flat and placed next to the blue bag.
You can also take any extra waste or recycling to the Swindon Road recycling centre, or use the bring banks around the town. For the next two weeks, until Sunday 14 January, the recycling centre will be accepting food waste. We will also temporarily be allowing access onto the site for vehicles such as vans and pickups.
We would like to thank residents for their continued patience. We appreciate that this disruption has come at an unfortunate time of year when people have extra waste and recycling and we are sorry for the inconvenience which some of you will be experiencing.

Notes
*Ubico Ltd. does not normally collect extra refuse waste other than that contained in a wheelie bin, but an exception is made when collection services have been suspended and over the Christmas period.
