Community groups can apply now for a share of the funding
Community groups are set to benefit from a share of money as applications open for the next round of ‘positive activities’ funding. Applications must be in by 5pm on Monday 4 December.
The pot of money - which Gloucestershire County Council has allocated £50,000 towards – is being distributed by Cheltenham Borough Council. It will be allocated to projects which deliver positive activities to young people. The activities should be accessible across the whole borough and should make a positive difference to the young people, their health and wellbeing and the communities in which they live.
Cllr. Flo Clucas, cabinet member for healthy lifestyles said: “I am delighted that we are able to give our young people and those who work with them an opportunity to build skills, create networks and links and to enjoy what they do. We are really lucky to have so many who are committed to working with our young people and help them develop.
"This is the seventh year that the borough and county councils have worked together to support so many different voluntary and community groups which offer invaluable activities for young people.
“The response to the funding in previous years has demonstrated the sheer commitment and enthusiasm of local groups to take on the challenge of providing activities for young people in our town. We recognise and welcome this effort.’’
Cllr Richard Boyles, cabinet member for children and young people at Gloucestershire County Council, said: “We provide each district with funds to support community-based organisations in their locality.
“This is the seventh year in a row that we’ve put £50,000 into Cheltenham’s fund and it’s great to see the positive impact it has. It helps to make a real difference to young people in the town and around the county.”
The closing date for applications is 5pm, Monday 4 December. For more information and application forms, take a look at our dedicated webpages.
