St Paul’s Hub will be the venue for a new parent support group which launches next week.
With the first session taking place on Thursday 5 November, 10-12 and then every Thursday morning thereafter, activities will include basic first aid (for emergencies with children) from the Red Cross, arts and crafts, pampering and plenty of discussion. Sessions are free to attend.
Abbey Smith, the council’s inspiring families project officer said: ‘’Family life can be full of ups and downs. The aim of these events is for families to be able to get together, have fun and relax, in a place where they can meet new people, share experiences and offer advice to one another.
‘’As well as the structured activities, an important part of each session will be the discussions, whether they are shared by the group or on a more one-to-one basis. They can be centered around any topic about family life that people want to chat about and share advice on.’’
The group is open to all local families on a drop-in basis. If any families have additional needs to enable them to attend the session, they can contact the council to discuss them. No crèche will be provided but children are welcome.
St Paul’s Hub can be found at: 5-6 Windsor Court, St Paul’s Walk, Cheltenham, GL50 4GG. For further details, contact Abbey Smith on 01242 775172 or visit our inspiring families pages.
