Winter opening times for Cheltenham’s recycling centre and public toilets

The winter opening times come into play from Sunday 27 October for the recycling centre and Monday 28 October for the public conveniences.

The recycling centre on Swindon Road is a popular facility which handles nearly 7,500 thousand tonnes of the borough’s waste each year. Almost 75 per cent of the tonnage of waste brought through the centre is recycled and this makes up 28 per cent of Cheltenham’s total annual recycling tonnage.

The winter opening hours for the recycling facility is from 7.30am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday; 7.30am to 4pm on Saturdays; and 9am to 1pm on Sundays and bank holidays.

The opening hours for public toilets in the town centre and town centre parks change from Monday 28 October. The toilets will be unlocked a little later in the morning and locked earlier each afternoon during the winter months. Each public convenience around the borough varies so please visit our website for times.

Scott Williams, strategic client officer at Cheltenham Borough Council, says: “We would like to remind our customers of the new opening times for both the Swindon Road Recycling Centre and our public toilet facilities. We make these changes every year for the winter season to reflect the shortened daylight hours.”

Swindon Road Recycling Centre: In 2012/13 Swindon Road Recycling Centre handled 7,431 tonnes of waste and recycling. This included 2,832 tonnes of dry recycling materials and 2,736 tonnes of garden waste. 74.93% of the tonnage through the site was recycled
