Still Life by Annabella Bifulco, Cheltenham College Junior School, Year 7

Spring is in the air and art is everywhere, in particular at Leisure@. Here we are celebrating the talent of young artists from local schools in this year’s Schools’ Art exhibition.

This annual show continues to embrace the importance of art in young people’s education as a way of learning about all sorts of subjects through creativity whether it be history, nature or art itself.  Through their work children explore all sorts of techniques getting their eye in for colour, shape and form.

Exhibitions & Education Manager, Sophia Wilson says:

We always love unpacking and installing the Schools’ Art show, there is always something outstanding and inspiring.  It is encouraging to see the variety of work and skill employed by the young people who take part. It’s such an important part of a young person’s education so much can be learnt from looking at things, reflecting on the past then translating that into a work of art.

This year Schools’ Art takes up residence at Leisure@ and can be enjoyed on the ground floor gallery leading into the public viewing area of the swimming pool.

The exhibition will be opened by the Mayor, Councillor Colin Hay at 11.00am on Saturday 23 March 2013.  Photo call 10.45am.
