Why we collect information about you

We collect information to undertake infectious disease investigation and control.

This is undertaken by the Council in accordance with Public Health (Control of Disease) Act 1984.

What information do we collect about you?

We collect information about:

  • You (name, address, date of birth, occupation, contact details (telephone, mobile email address))
  • Your household and if necessary other close contacts (name, address, date of birth, occupation)
  • Your workplace
  • Your symptoms (date of onset, symptoms, duration of illness)   

Who do we share the information with?

  • Gloucestershire County Council (Public Health Team).
  • Public Health England
  • NHS laboratories
  • Public Analyst
  • Registered medical practitioners
  • Other local authorities involved in the case/outbreak

Is any information transferred to or stored on servers based outside the European Economic Area?

No.

How long do we keep your information?

We keep information about you for 6 years + current from the date of the notification of the infectious disease.

What are the consequences if we do not collect the data?

The council will be unable to fulfil its statutory obligations to investigate and control the spread of infectious diseases.

Are any decisions about you made by automatic means?

No.
