Make an application
Check the licence process:
- Read and understand the guidance document provided
- Make a full application and pay the application fee
- Receive a pre-arranged inspection of the premises and/or animals by a vet
- Application sent for 12 working day consultation with relevant parties
- Receive a pre-arranged inspection of the premises by a council officer regarding the proposed licence conditions
- If no objections are received the application will go to the licensing sub-committee miscellaneous for approval
- Receive a pre-arranged inspection of the premises by a council officer to ensure compliance with the conditions.
- Licence and conditions sent to applicant to be accepted
- Licence issued for two years and animals can now be accommodated
- Renewal application made three months before the expiry of current licence
How to make an application
You need to complete the application form and pay the application fee.
Application form
You will need to complete our application form in full and email it to [email protected] or post to Environmental Health, Municipal Offices, Promenade, Cheltenham, GL50 9SA.
The process for new applications and renewals takes a minimum of two to three months and may be longer depending on the species and the circumstances of the case.

How to pay your fee
If you cannot use the online payment system, you can call 01242 264300 and pay over the phone, quoting payment code 'GE' or by cheque made payable to 'Cheltenham Borough Council'.
