What can CIL be spent on?
The administration fund
Up to 5 per cent will be spent by the borough council on administration.
The neighbourhood fund
Where development takes place in an area with a parish council (or neighbourhood forum)
15 per cent to 25 per cent will be spent by parish councils on the provision, improvement, replacement, operation or maintenance of infrastructure and on anything else that addresses the demands that development places on an area.
Where development takes place in an area without a parish council (or neighbourhood forum)
15 per cent will be spent by the borough council on the provision, improvement, replacement, operation or maintenance of infrastructure and on anything else that addresses the demands that development places on an area anywhere within their unparished areas in consultation with the community.
The infrastructure fund
The remaining 70 per cent to 80 per cent is spent by the borough council on just the provision, improvement, replacement, operation or maintenance of infrastructure.
Each year, as part of our Infrastructure funding statement, we have to publish an infrastructure list. This is a list of projects that the infrastructure fund may be spent on, wholly or in part. Visit our developer contributions page to find out more.
