Cost of maintaining the town's infrastructure

The council has a significant property portfolio including the Town Hall, Pittville Pump rooms, Municipal Offices and the Art Gallery and Museum. As well as funding the increasing costs of maintaining these buildings, the council has aspirations to improve and invest in them. The council does not currently have the resources to finance this and is looking at ways to achieve the aspirations without increasing the costs met by the council tax payer. However, it is just not possible to maintain a large property portfolio and have low levels council tax increases hence some radical approaches to property management and ownership are likely to have to be considered over the next few years.
