Financial projection

The council's net budget, the difference between income and expenditure on services for 2008/09, is around £16m. This is financed by around £1m of government grant, around £8 from the share of local business rates (the council collects around £34m which it sends to the government for re-distribution back to local councils) and around £7m from council tax.
