Bee information
During the warmer summer months many people experience problems with wasps and bees and call the pest control department for assistance. While wasps may be classified as a pest by most, bees in general are not and Cheltenham Borough Council does not deal with them.
Virtually all bee species are non-aggressive if undisturbed and many cannot sting at all. Humans are often a greater danger to bees, as bees can be affected or even harmed by encounters with toxic chemicals in the environment. If you're one of a small number of people who are allergic to bee venom, or if you are stung a number of times, bee stings may cause a serious reaction (called anaphylaxis), or can in rare cases be deadly. Find information on the NHS website on what to do if someone has anaphylaxis.
What should you do if you encounter a swarm of bees?
You will find information about what to do if you find a swarm of bees on the Gloucestershire Bee Keepers Association website.
